The memorial clock at Edinburgh Haymarket
Historically, clocks have been a feature of Edinburgh crossroads, and the crossroads in Haymarket is no exception with a war memorial in the form of a clock. This memorial is dedicated to former players of Heart of Midlothian F.C. who died in both world wars.

Haymarket Train Station, Edinburgh

Haymarket train station, Edinburgh entrance
Currently under reconstruction to modernize the area, Haymarket is also the site of the original Haymarket Railway Station which offers commuter service to Glasgow as well as other cities. The reconstruction project was approved in June of 2008, and will include a 5 star hotel overlooking the crossroads memorial, as well as a 3 star Travelodge Hotel. In addition, plans include 3 office buildings with additional retail space for bars, shops and small supermarkets.
In addition to the reconstruction project, Haymarket is currently home to a variety of other hotels and guest houses as well as a quiet residential area featuring quaint Victorian homes and gardens.
Close to Murrayfield Stadium as well as the Edinburgh Conference Centre, Haymarket is also close to a scenic walkway and bike path that meanders through the city. Often the starting point to a tour of Edinburgh, Haymarket remains a well known landmark that is both easy to locate and simple to find.
